Delete Your Personal Internet Access VPN Account

This page explains how to permanently delete your Personal Internet Access VPN account and all data associated with it.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open the Personal Internet Access VPN app on your device.
- Go to the Account tab.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account and associated data are removed immediately.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can no longer access the app, send an email to support@piavpn.org from the email address tied to your account with the subject line "Account deletion request". We will verify ownership and complete the deletion within 7 business days.
What gets deleted
- Your account record (UID, email, password hash)
- Device list and registered device IDs
- VPN account credentials and WireGuard keys
- Subscription metadata (plan, expiry, renewal flags)
- Any rewards / temporary access state
- App preferences and settings stored on our servers
What is retained, and for how long
Some records must be kept after account deletion to meet legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and accounting obligations:
- Billing and purchase receipts — retained for up to 7 years to comply with tax law. These are stored in pseudonymous form and not linked back to a usable account.
- Abuse / fraud signals — anonymized fingerprints of known fraudulent payment attempts may be retained indefinitely to protect the Service.
We do not retain any record of your VPN browsing activity, IP addresses, DNS queries, or session timestamps — none of those are logged in the first place. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active App Store or Google Play subscription. To stop future charges, cancel through the store you purchased from:
- Google Play: Play Store app → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → PIA VPN → Cancel.
- App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → PIA VPN → Cancel Subscription.
